sermonsnacks.jpgWe want to hear about what God has done for you.  God tells us in His word that we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.  The miracles God has done in your life can serve to encourage others going through the same things.  Use the e-mail or drop box button and send them to us.  We will not use your name or e-mail address.  We will post your miracle here on Sermonsnacks for all to be encouraged by.  There is no such thing as a "little" miracle.   If it blessed you we want to share it.  We may even include your miracle in an upcoming "Sermonsnacks" book.  We thank you in advance for sharing your miracle and blessing others as God has blessed you.  Thanks so much.   Don and Karen.

"A miracle, derived from the old Latin word miraculum meaning "something wonderful", is a striking interposition of divine intervention by God in the universe by which the ordinary course and operation of Nature is overruled, suspended, or modified."

"Angel at work!"

sermonsnacks.jpgMy oldest son was a junior in high school and I was working as a Public Health Nurse for the county when this happened back in 1996.

We are blessed to live about a quarter mile from the gordge of the Hudson River. Toward the end of the school year in June more and more teenagers swim under the 60 foot high bridge that joins our two little towns. Just above the bridge are whitewater falls that flow with strong current underneath the bridge. Teens would jump off the bridge and swim in the raging current below. Every year someone would tradgically drown.

I never discussed the topic with my sons, because I thought my feelings about swimming there were very clear. It was that time of year and I had just come home from work and fallen deeply asleep on the couch. I was awakened abruptly by my oldest son who was standing there with his buddy dripping wet.

He is usually very polite and soft spoken so I was alarmed and confused when he started yelling at me. I was waking up and trying to make sense of what he was saying. He was telling me that he couldn't believe I was spying on him and that I backed away when he called out to me.

Having no idea what he was talking about, I told him to slow down and tell me what he was talking about. He spoke in a manner that implyed he was certain I already knew the story. He said he was swimming under the bridge and as he climbed up onto the rocky ledges, he looked up and saw me standing above him. He said I calmly looked down and said, "You shouldn't be swimming here, it's dangerous." He said that as he climbed toward me, knowing he was in big trouble, I kept backing away until I disappeared into the shadows of the bridge.

I assured him that I had not been there and he insisted that I was. He said,"Don't you think I know my own mother when I see her? Same hair, same clothes etc". He was furious that I would not admit that I was there. I was not there.

To this day he swears I was and so does his friend. I am grateful to the angel that appeared on my behalf. I am a registered nurse and have had other angel experiences both at work and with the same son when he was a baby.

"Look Up!"

sermonsnacks.jpgThere was a very tumultous time in my life a few years ago when I wasn't sure what was the right thing to do and what was not. I had been married to a man who had started beating me on a regular basis. If he had a bad day at work, I got a beating. If someone made him angry at church, I got a beating. Even if he was having a good day, I would get a beating just as a reminder that I was still under his control.

I lived this way for a long time. Until my son was three months old, to be exact. My 'husband' had come home from a night of partying with his friends and started slapping me around. (He was always more violent when he was liquored up.) For a long time he hit me and burned me with cigarette butts and poured beer over my head. I just kept wondering to myself why God would let someone get away with those kinds of things. I asked that question many times and heard no reply.

Shortly after his attacking me, my husband passed out in the floor of our bedroom. I peeped around the corner to see him sprawled out in the floor and I was disgusted that a human being could sink so low as to lay their hands on another person.

Once again, I asked God how he could just let someone treat me this way.

Then, very quietly, I heard the answer that changed my whole life. In the back of my mind I heard a voice say calmly "I have given you the power to walk away. You choose to stay."

Then, I felt like a real moron. All this time, it had never occurred to me that I could just leave. So, I did. I packed mine and my son's things and we sped away while Ben slept.

I started feeling guilty about just running away. As soon as I began feeling guilty my car had a flat tire. There was just a really loud POP and then the sound of my rims scraping the road. It just so happened that I had to pull into a church parking lot to avoid being hit by another vehicle.

I was on the verge of tears thinking that this was God's way of telling me to give Ben another chance. I was tired of the pain and tears that I had already been put through so the idea of God wanting me to keep on living that way was very depressing to me.

Then, again very quietly, I heard a little voice say "Look up." So, I looked up. There was a sign right above me that read,'God will see you safely down any road you may have to walk.' I was supposed to keep on going.

God wanted to reassure me that this was what I needed to do. It was his way of telling me that although things would be better, they were still going to be tough. But, after I saw that sign and a feeling of relief washed over me, I picked up my son's carseat, his diaper bag and I set out walking to my nearest relative's house ten miles away.

I never looked back and I made the ten-mile trip in just under two hours. I never got tired, and I never increased my speed. I knew I was not alone.

I am currently working a great job and my life is on track. My ex-husband is currently serving a life sentence in prison.

"There still is divine healing"

sermonsnacks.jpgA number of years ago while we were pastoring in Va. Beach, a young women and her children came to the Church where we were serving.  I had learned that she was married and her husband had a drinking problem and became violent sometimes.  He also did not want her and the children to come to go to church.  One Sunday night after we got home from church, she called and said when she got home her husband was home and had been drinking.  He had gotten angry and punched the wall and apparently broken his hand.  With faith in God and by no means me, she called and told me about it and asked me to pray for him.  She did not ask me to speak with him, but I felt I should.  I introduced myself to him and said I wanted to pray for his hand, and that I believed God would heal it.  I prayed for him, thanked him and wished him a peaceful night.  Wednesday night came and when She arrived her husband was with her.  I shook his hand but didn't say anything about his hand.  Before I could finish reading the scripture that night, he stood up and said "Pastor, I can't take it anymore, I want you to pray for me".   He came forward and I prayer with him and he gave his heart to the Lord.   After I prayed, I offered him a chance to testify and he shared that after we prayed that night, God instantly healed his hand.   That young man became a strong Christian and worked in the church for many years.  You see, God knew what needed to happen that night.  I thank God for the privilege to be used.   God wants to use us all to show people His power and love for them.   Let God use you, listen and obey.   God Bless,   Don and Karen  (Please share with us what God has done in your life, so that others may be encouraged.)

"God does give pay raises"

sermonsnacks.jpgI was recently told of a person who needed a raise and was not being paid the current rate for what they did.  This person had found another job that offered more money.   They scheduled a meeting with their current manager and told him of their intention to resign in two weeks.   They were told they were sorry, but the company "policy" was that only an annual cost of living raise was what the company had ever given and he had been there many years.  They said they understood and submitted their resignation.  One day later, the manager's boss called the person and offered them a substantial raise over what the new company was willing to pay and a better job at the company.  So what was up.............?   After all there was the company "policy".   First, I happen to know this person is a good Christian, second they are a good worker, third they use there money wisely and to bless others.   You see, I believe God looked at this and said......"Hmmmmmmmm".....I think I make the policy!"   God can move on people, He made them after all.   God really does move mountains,  God still does miracles.   We pray for God to bless us and He does.   We have to be very obedient and listen real close when He speaks.    To this person and I believe to me, this is a miracle.     Has God moved a mountain in  your life?   Please share them with us today.   God Bless,  Don and Karen
