What are you doing to "resist" the devil with regards to your finances?  He will flee, but we must put forth some effort.  Pray about your finances daily.  Pray about purchases.   Spend less than you make every payday.  Save for emergencies.   Follow God's Word with regard to your finances.  Take charge of your life and above all remember if YOU resist, he will flee.

"Make Good........"

   They can't take it with them;
      fame and fortune all get left behind.
   Just when they think they've arrived
      and folks praise them because they've made good,
   They enter the family burial plot
      where they'll never see sunshine again.
Decide and teach your family what is important.  Teach your children and grandchildren what matters in life.  We should do the very best with the abilities God has blessed us with, but we can learn from God's word what is important.  When the relationship we have with our Father in Heaven is the best it can be and we are sure of our salvation and security in Him and His unconditional love for us we have "made good".   When we raise a family that knows God, we invest in their eternal well being.

"Be an example....Debt free...."

1 Timothy 4:12 (King James Version)

 12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
More than ever before we as God's children need to be an example in how we handle our finances.  We must not let debt rule our lives and take over our children's lives.   We must pay our bills on time/ahead of time.  We must not borrow more than we can comfortably repay; if we must borrow.  Start a plan today to move to be debt free.  The devil would have you believe it is impossible.  But with God all things are possible.  Seek Godly advise.  Start being the proper example today.   Teach your children  that they can live debt free.

There is nothing wrong with trying to do the best you can and making a good living, but many have ruined their happiness, family and health over trying to get "more".  Do the best you can, get your priorities right, take care of your spouse and family, love God and the rest will fall into place according to God's plan.    God Bless,  Don and Karen

"Be content"

 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
(I know I talked about this a while back, but it is a great problem and cause of a great deal of "grief" in families and marriages.) Contentment is one of the most elusive things in this world, especially in the United States.  Why?  Mostly because we are constantly be flooded with ads and sounds and voices and pictures to stimulate our desire for more.  People make a very good living telling companies what "we" want and what will get us to buy it,  no matter if we have the money.  God wants us to be blessed.  But He also wants us to be content with what we have been blessed with so far.  Strive to be content, avoid credit as much as possible and God will bless you and you will have less "grief".  God Bless, Don and Karen.

"Your all set - get to work!"

 11-16 "So now, son, God be with you. God-speed as you build the sanctuary for your God, the job God has given you. And may God also give you discernment and understanding when he puts you in charge of Israel so that you will rule in reverent obedience under God's Revelation. That's what will make you successful, following the directions and doing the things that God commanded Moses for Israel. Courage! Take charge! Don't be timid; don't hold back. Look at this—I've gone to a lot of trouble to stockpile materials for the sanctuary of God: a hundred thousand talents (3,775 tons) of gold, a million talents (37,750 tons) of silver, tons of bronze and iron—too much to weigh—and all this timber and stone. And you're free to add more. And workers both plentiful and prepared: stonecutters, masons, carpenters, artisans in gold and silver, bronze and iron. You're all set—get to work! And God-speed!"
We no longer live under the Old Testament law....but God does tell us that he gave it to us as an example.   Now we are (God's Children) the sanctuary.   If we follow Gods direction, he will still provide and take care of us.   Are you following Gods direction in regard to your finances?  God will give you discernment and understanding to do your best.   Be obedient to the directions and you will be surprised at what happens!    God Bless,  Don and Karen

"What will you settle for?"

 14-16 That is when one of the Twelve, the one named Judas Iscariot, went to the cabal of high priests and said, "What will you give me if I hand him over to you?" They settled on thirty silver pieces. He began looking for just the right moment to hand him over.

We all criticize Judas pretty hard for what he did.  But the question is to us as well.... "What will we take to begin to move away from God and his plan for our life?"   What activity or other thing keeps you from talking to God and listening?   Will a little extra money from someplace keep us from God's will? What does it take to keep you from joining a bible study or going to a good church?  We may not intentionally "sell out" Jesus.........but we must make every effort to ensure we never do.    God Bless.   Don and Karen

Appreciating Our Blessings

Two old friends bumped into one another on the street one day. One of them looked forlorn, almost on the verge of tears. His friend asked, "What has the world done to you, my old friend?"

The sad fellow said, "Let me tell you. Three weeks ago, an uncle died and left me forty thousand dollars."

"That's a lot of money."

"But you see, two weeks ago, a cousin I never even knew died, and left me eighty-five thousand free and clear."

"Sounds like you've been blessed...."

"You don't understand!" he interrupted. "Last week my great-aunt passed away. I inherited almost a quarter of a million."

Now he was really confused. "Then, why do you look so glum?"

"This week ... nothing!"

That's the trouble with receiving something on a regular basis. Even if it is a gift, we eventually come to expect it. Someone once suggested to me a way to test someone's character. Give him (or her) $5 a day for a month. Then stop, and see what his reaction is. The natural tendency is that if we receive a gift long enough, we come to view it as an entitlement. We feel hurt, even angry, if we don't receive it any longer.

It's the same way with the blessings God gives us every day. I don't deserve the comfortable home I live in, the beautiful scenery around me, the clean water that I drink. But after receiving these gifts (and a multitude of others) for years, I sometimes fail to be grateful. I've come to expect these good things. And when one of them is removed for a short while (like the water being cut off), I get upset.

Make an effort today to recognize the blessings you've come to take for granted. Focus on what you have rather than on what you don't have, and see if it doesn't improve your attitude.

"Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men" (Psalm 107:8).

"If you don't know what your doing.....pray!"

 5-8 If you don't know what you're doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You'll get his help, and won't be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who "worry their prayers" are like wind-whipped waves. Don't think you're going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.
It just sounds to simple doesn't it..."If you don't know what your doing....pray..." hmmmmmm.  God does love to help, he want to help, why?  Because as he helps you, his hope is that you will tell someone in the same situation that God places in your path, who may not have read this, or does not pray yet, or does not talk to God what he did for you.  We like to keep all our options open..you  never know when something will work out.  How about if we let God work it out.  Let him work out our finances, don't worry he won't tell you to give it all to him.  He doesn't need it, he need you to use it like his word says to.   So go ahead and ask God.......if you don't know what your doing..........maybe you should even if you think you do know what your doing just to make sure........:)  God Bless,  Don and Karen

"Be yourself before God..."

 6-8A devout life does bring wealth, but it's the rich simplicity of being yourself before God. Since we entered the world penniless and will leave it penniless, if we have bread on the table and shoes on our feet, that's enough.

 9-10 But if it's only money these leaders are after, they'll self-destruct in no time. Lust for money brings trouble and nothing but trouble. Going down that path, some lose their footing in the faith completely and live to regret it bitterly ever after.

Being ourselves "before God" is one of the hardest things we must work on in our live.  The world tugs at us for our time and talent and money in every direction. T.V and media spend millions of dollars getting millions of dollars out of us.  We often think if I could only get this or that or this much of a raise I would be happy, my wife/husband would have less stress. 

God has a way of working things out for people who are "devout" or dedicated to Him.  That doesn't mean "religious" for Him,  just dedicated to Him in everything you do.  One of the first things we can do that will help our finances and our stress level is to make our lives as simple as possible.  The simpler our lives the more time there is to enjoy what God has placed in front of us.  Look at your daily schedule, what goes on?  What could be cut out?  Where could money be saved?  There is a Christian discipline not talked much about these days...."contentment" to be content with what we have and to be thankful for it.  That doesn't mean that we should be lazy and not try to provide as best we can for our families.  It means that when we quit "lusting" after money, God has a way of making sure we get what we need and even some extra blessings because we made time for Him in our lives.  Simplify your life as much as you can and then be content with what God has blessed you with.  God Bless.  Don and Karen

"Using God to make money..."

 20-23 Peter said, "To hell with your money! And you along with it. Why, that's unthinkable—trying to buy God's gift! You'll never be part of what God is doing by striking bargains and offering bribes. Change your ways—and now! Ask the Master to forgive you for trying to use God to make money. I can see this is an old habit with you; you reek with money-lust."

"Life is not defined by what you have..."

"A God-shaped life..."

"He gives us the ability..."

"See others..."

"Impulsively promised...?"

 1-5 Dear friend, if you've gone into hock with your neighbor or locked yourself into a deal with a stranger,
If you've impulsively promised the shirt off your back
   and now find yourself shivering out in the cold,
Friend, don't waste a minute, get yourself out of that mess.
   You're in that man's clutches!
   Go, put on a long face; act desperate.
Don't procrastinate—
   there's no time to lose.
Run like a deer from the hunter,
   fly like a bird from the trapper!
One of the greatest and worst things about America is that we can have just about anything we want, when we want it without money.  Sign here and it is yours today!  Our first lesson is don't act "impulsively", take time to think about that next purchase, talk about it with your family, discuss the consequences of making or not making the purchase.  Is it worth going into debt for?   How many hours of work will you have to work every month just to make the payment?  If you have gotten into debt, do all you can to get out of it as fast as possible.  Contact your creditors and ask them how you can There are times when we need to borrow money for things.  But always pray about them, agree about them and realize the consequences of being in debt.  God will give you wisdom and guidance, listen to Him....  God Bless,  Don and Karen

"He was a great success..."

 20-21 Hezekiah carried out this work and kept it up everywhere in Judah. He was the very best—good, right, and true before his God. Everything he took up, whether it had to do with worship in God's Temple or the carrying out of God's Law and Commandments, he did well in a spirit of prayerful worship. He was a great success.
"He did well is a spirit of prayerful worship...."  I know from first hand experience that it is often very difficult to go about our work in a way of "prayerful worship".   But I also know that when we can mange to do it.......when we can look past the things that have happened and happen to us daily sometimes.....we can be a great success.  Why?  Because God wants us to be the very best at everything we do.  He is our Father... He desires only good for us.  Be your very best at all you do...be good and true before God in everything and God promises you will be a great success!  Do it for God and He will do it for you every time!

"At least try..."

sermonsnacks.jpgTheodore Roosevelt once said, "Is is not the critic who counts;  not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done better.  The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena...who at best, in the end knows the triumph of great achievement, and who at worst if he fails, at least fails while  daring greatly. So that his place will  never be with those cold timid souls who know neither victory or defeat."

There are thousands and thousands of people today who because they dared to "try" have changed the lives of many people  I have found out one thing in life....the closer you get to God, the more you listen....the more He will guide you, give you uncommon wisdom and favor and bless you not only with peace in your heart but the desires of your heart.   Dare to at least try...Pray for God's help and guidance, never say that's not possible for me!  but know this:
